Michael Eaton, our Director of Technology at JustTech has been a very important part of the JustTech story. This month, we sat down with Michael to learn more about him and his role at JustTech.
Hi Michael, tell our readers a little more about you.
My name is Michael. I am married, and I spend a lot of time with my wife and with my job at JustTech.
I do a lot of retro video game restoration and modifications as well. It’s a hobby I have had for years. Right now as I look around my office, I have a couple of Super Nintendos, a Sega Dreamcast a Playstation and probably more if I look deeper. I enjoy working with retro classic video game restoration. I started playing around with these things in high school and working with computers, games and electronics and things of that nature.
I think my interest in these things really played a part in why I was hired at JustTech as an analyst, and my experience with IT gave me an opportunity to work with this company.
How did you start your journey with JustTech?
I started with the company a little over 10 years ago now. At that time there were only 4 people in the company. Three salespeople and one operations person. I got a call from Josh out of the blue, and I came and interviewed. I was hired, and after 6-8 months we did a small IT operation and it was probably another 2-3 years before we started adding more people.
What is JustTech? What is your role?
We provide managed IT, we do print services and Xerox sales. For years I did manage services, I obviously answer a lot of emails. In 2014 we brought on another analyst, it was a year of change in 2014. We started doing Xerox applications, my brother started working part-time here as a developer, he now sits just next door to me in the office. We started doing managed printing and IT also. At that time I separated myself from the IT area to handle applications, Xerox installs and managed print services. That’s where I have been for the last 5 years.
What’s been most rewarding about your time at JustTech?
In the fall of 2014, Thanksgiving of 2014 I figured out a process to manipulate the Xerox equipment to do automatic software updates. So figuring that out, by the end of 2015 Xerox licensed our solution that we built from JustTech, and that gave us the ability to start acquiring other small businesses and grow as we have in the last several years.
It was important at that time for us to find the best people, people we can trust – so although now we have a ton of people, we had only 4, 5 or 6 people – as you grow you want to bring in people you can trust for future growth. I was happy to be a part of all of that growth in some way.
What else do you like about working at JustTech?
I have a lot of freedom to work on projects that I love, and I get to help all the guys in the field. The field techs and I work a lot together to provide solutions for our customers.
Is JustTech a good place for someone to work?
Yes, there is good stability, the people all get along and it’s a great environment for employees. It’s a growing company.
Why is JustTech a good choice for a company that needs your services?
Customer support is paramount. We have to support our customers to the highest degree. We have customers that still reach out to me, even though I don’t personally have as much contact directly with customers as I once did.
Communication is so important. Even if we can’t get something fixed that day, communication is key. Keep the customer updated, informed and just talking with them gives us the best reputation in customer support. I think that’s what differentiates us as a company at JustTech.
We would like to congratulate Michael Eaton on 10 years of service and thank him for his continued contributions! Michael is our Director of Technology and a valuable member of our team. Michael was instrumental in launching JustTech’s managed print services, managed IT services and custom Xerox app solutions.
Thank you, Michael! Here is to 10 more years!
