Next up is Mychael Murphy, our Manager of Logistics who supports all of our clients!

Joshua Justice:

Hello, I’m Josh Justice from JustTech, back with another Employee Spotlight video. Today, we’re in Fredericksburg, Virginia, at our distribution center with our Logistics Manager, Michael Murphy. So, Michael, Welcome to our Employee Spotlight video.

Mychael Murphy:

Thank you for having me. Yeah.

Joshua Justice:

Michael, tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.

Mychael Murphy:

I was born in La Plata, mostly raised in Maryland. Moved to Florida for a little bit, came back. Me and my wife got married. We moved to Ohio, came back. But we live in Colonial Beach now. I’ve got a history with IT and things like that. But I got a wife and three kids. That’s a little bit about me.

Joshua Justice:

Talk a little bit about what you do here at JustTech.

Mychael Murphy:

I run the warehouse. Like I said, I’m the Logistics Manager. I’m in charge of scheduling deliveries. We receive new equipment, we get it all set up. I also receive used equipment back. We get it all fixed up, get supplies put in it, get it cleaned up and ready to resell the customers. Also, we ship supplies from here. We have a whole inventory of supplies that we ship out of here as well.

Joshua Justice:

That’s quite a complex process. Equipment gets ordered, it comes in, it gets staged, it goes out, old equipment comes in, and then gets resold again. Yeah. It sounds like you have a great team here that helps make that happen.

Mychael Murphy:

Absolutely. We got Ron in here, he’s a great help with all of that. Nick, our driver, of course, handles all the deliveries. He’s been excellent doing all that.

Joshua Justice:

That’s great. That’s great to hear. What first brought you to JustTech? Why did you want to work at JustTech?

Mychael Murphy:

Kind of a funny story. I was working at a sister company, and in 2020, I got furloughed. During that year, the unemployment checks were more than I was making work, and so I wasn’t really looking, but that had to come to an end, of course. Always does. But our church is actually one of the customers here. I was there one day as the on-site person when I think it was Curtis came in to service the machine. I started talking to him about it. At the time, he said he wasn’t sure if you guys were hiring. I said, Okay, well… I actually ended up submitting an application to another company that said they knew you. He’s like, I think you’d be a better fit at JustTech. He sent my information over, went in for the interview, and the rest of his history at that point.

Joshua Justice:

I forgot about Some of that. That was a good memory. The church was in Charlotte Hall, right? Correct. I remember that now. How many years have you been here?

Mychael Murphy:

I actually just hit my five-year anniversary.

Joshua Justice:

Five-year anniversary. That’s great. What do you like most about JustTech? I mean, you work with technology, you work with people, you work with manufacturers, distributors. What do you like most about Just that?

Mychael Murphy:

I like that this is a really family-oriented business. It feels like a family. We have open communication. If I ever need anything I can call you, text you, and get a hold of you, no problem. I get along with everybody here. It just feels like, like I said, a very warming and welcoming and family-oriented business. Really enjoy being here with you guys.

Joshua Justice:

Now, we talked about your responsibilities a little bit. Something else you do is you schedule the deliveries. Is that correct? Yes. With our thousands of clients out there. What’s that like?

Mychael Murphy:

We get the equipment ready. I could take a picture of my whiteboard, but I list everybody down on the whiteboard, get an idea of where everybody’s at. I open up a route planner, figure out where everybody’s at on the map. Then once I see it, I visualize it, I start to go, Okay, Monday, we got these three dots that are next to each other. Then once I get that plan together, I just start calling, emailing. I usually like the email first. That way I have it written so I know, Okay, I already messaged this person. I don’t need to mess with them again unless they answer. But yeah, it’s just once I visualize it, I start emailing, calling. Most of the time, once I email, it’s almost immediately they’ll respond back or get it scheduled. I usually also check in with the text to make sure they’re available. But yeah, it’s just that’s pretty much the process. That’s a big process.

Joshua Justice:

You do a great job at it. So if a client was considering working with JustTech, what would you tell them?

Mychael Murphy:

I would tell them that, like I said, this is a real family environment. I’d also tell you, no matter what it is, whether it’s new equipment, the certified pre-owned equipment that we have, we have the right equipment for the right price for your budget. On top of that, we handle supplies and service. We take care of it all, and you just have to worry about printing and doing the jobs. We take care of everything else.

Joshua Justice:

Michael should also be in sales. The next opening we have, I’m referring you over. That was a great When you’re not an all-star at JustTech, what do you do for fun?

Mychael Murphy:

I enjoy spending time with my family, but I also am… I do a lot with the church. I serve with their media ministry. I’m still at the one in Charlotte Hall. I serve with their media ministry, and I also lead our discipleship ministry along with my wife. But other than that, outside of all of that, I’m big into video games. I love playing video games. I like to do that in my free time. But family’s first.

Joshua Justice:

What’s your favorite video game?

Mychael Murphy:

The answer to that used to be Call of Duty. That’s gone downhill. But I would say Metal Gear Solid. Probably my favorite franchise of all time, and Legend of Zelda.

Joshua Justice:
