Getting to Know the People Behind JustTech
Here at JustTech, we think it’s important for our employees to know how much we value their time, talent, and who they are as people. We had the opportunity to talk with Kenny Klein, Network/Technical Analyst out of our Morgantown, West Virginia location. It was wonderful to get to know Kenny more and we are excited for you to learn about him, too!
Hi, Kenny! Thanks for talking with us today. Can you start off by telling us a little bit about yourself?
I went to school in Morgantown all of my life. I graduated from Morgantown High School, then my first three years of college were at Shepherd University where I majored in communications. After that, I transferred back to WVU and finished out here. My communications degrees were a bit different – at Shepherd, communications meant production work for radio, news casts, writing copy, screenplay, etc. At WVU, communications was more about socialism and how people communicate. After that, I moved to New York and did freelance production assistant work and internships and temp jobs. That’s where I met my wife, Lisa, who was also a WVU student. I decided to leave New York and got a job at the University copy center while she was working up in Maryland. I ended up going back to my dad’s company to be a Xerox sales rep and Lisa moved back to Morgantown and we got married. We now have a one-year-old daughter, Melanie, and a four-year-old son, Jacob.
Awesome! What brought you to JustTech?
I started out working for my dad’s company, Document Solutions in Morgantown a couple years after college. I moved to New York and started out in sales. Two years after that, I realized that I was better at the tech aspect of the machine, so I moved on to networking and installs. When Document Solutions merged with JustTech, I was sent away for training to work with the company.
We’re glad you were! What are your main responsibilities working here?
I’m a Network/Technical Analyst, so I set up new installs when machines are delivered, make sure that they are connected and do what the customer wants; set up print drivers, emails, scanning, faxing – any of the apps that their machines are compatible with and making sure they are doing everything that they need. Also, when a machine stops doing something or something breaks, we’re the ones to fix it – we’re on the road a lot.
Sounds like you stay busy! What would you tell a customer who is considering working with JustTech?
The product speaks for itself. What you’re going to get from us is quality of service and hands-on care. You can reach out to a local technician when something happens, but if you reach out to us, we can fix it over the phone or be there shortly. The service – that’s something my dad always did too. All machines work well; they’re like a car, they all have engines, they’re going to get miles, they’re going to wear out – they’re going to need some type of service in one form or another, so you need a service provider that you can count on.
Very true. What do you enjoy most about being a part of the JustTech team?
Honestly, the support I get from the rest of JustTech. If I find myself in a situation where I am having trouble, I can call to get help and they will answer or research the problem to help me solve the issue. That is something that I did not have before; I’m not being rerouted, which is great because I am a tech trying to fix a machine, so personal help goes a long way. Mike Eaton, Clay Walker, Sean Doherty – we all work great together and are really good at determining who takes what calls by touching base every morning.
Great! When you’re not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?
A number of things. If i have the money and the time, I like to see a lot of concerts – Classic Rock and Bluegrass; I’ve been going to Phish concerts since high school! I also like to play video games and I am very into technology and new tech and very into the graphics. I’m a big ole movie buff, too. I have a theater set up in my basement and constantly go to the movies.
You’re well-rounded, for sure! If you could be any animal in the world, what would you be and why?
In college, every time I was asked that question I would say a sloth; they are natural predators and they always seem to be well-rested and in a good mood.
Perfect answer! To wrap things up, what are three things that you’d want to have if you were on a deserted island?
Internet, electricity, and a really good laptop.
Thanks again for talking with us today, Kenny! If a customer needs to reach you, what is the best way to get in contact with you?
