First up for 2025 is Andy Davis who supports about everyone and touches about everything at JustTech as we came to find in our interview!
Joshua Justice:
Good afternoon. This is Josh Justice, President, Founder, and Owner of JustTech and I’m here with Andy Davis, and I’ll let him introduce himself in just a minute. We’re bringing back our Employee Spotlight Series for 2025. And first up is Andy. So, Andy, tell us a little bit about yourself.
Andy Davis:
Well, my name is Andy Davis, and I grew up in Southern Virginia. I actually live pretty close to the Carolina line. I’m about 45 minutes north of the Carolina line, so I’m on the the southernmost. I currently live in Halifax, Virginia. I grew up in Napoli, Virginia, which is about 8 miles north up the road. So I didn’t venture too too far away. I moved into Carolina for a short time, but, you know, you always come back towards where you lived at, towards your home. So, my my parents’ home is still about 8 miles north, so I’m not far away from that. Sure.
Joshua Justice:
So what is your position at JustTech? I know, I know.
Andy Davis:
I’m a Technical Network Analyst with JustTech.
Joshua Justice:
Okay. Let me tell you about Andy. Andy is the subject matter expert for Xerox, all things Xerox. He’s on my favorite list on my phone because he’s the first person I call. He connects Xerox machines to the network. He does service calls. He works with our apps with PrintAnyWay. Am I missing anything there, Andy?
Andy Davis:
No. I think you got it all. Yeah.
Joshua Justice:
So what brought you to JustTech?
Andy Davis:
So what brought me to JustTech? Well, at at the time, I was actually with a different, a different company doing basically the same type of thing, and they decided not to continue with their relationship with Xerox. So, I received a call from a Xerox tech, out of Lynchburg, Virginia and and told me, “hey, you ought to you ought to go apply with Just Tech”. And at that point in time, I didn’t, you know, being down south, you know, I didn’t see JustTech as much. So, as over in the west, you know, you see it a lot with the Augusta County Schools, all the school systems and such. So I decided to, put in the application. I talked to Charles, he called me, set up an interview at a barbecue place in Gordonsville, Virginia with Charles and Clay. That’s right. It’s a good place too. Set up an interview up there. Charles reached out to me a couple of weeks later, and, and here I am. I actually started during the, COVID times. So, my first trip to La Plata was actually when I went up there and they were shutting down everything. So it was a it was a hectic start at first, but, we made it we made it to this point anyway.
Joshua Justice:
Yes. I’ve forgotten about the interview location, but I do remember you starting because we had clients that were doing COVID test every time you came to their facility. And I believe I asked you how things were going after a month, and you were like, well, if I didn’t have to take 5 COVID tests today, I’d be able to do a lot more work here. But everyone’s having you take tests before you come in. Wow. That was it seems like a lifetime ago, but it it really it really wasn’t. So what do you like most about Just Tech?
Andy Davis:
With JustTech, it gives me the ability to obviously, it’s new and different things every day. So you you rarely see the same things happen. I mean, they may revolve around the same situation, but it’s it’s never 2 things are the same. It gives me the ability to, you know, solve problems for all kinds of different people. And with my relationship with PrintAnyWay, ScanAnyWay, apps and stuff like that, I do get to talk to people all over all over the United States and even in, other countries as well. So it’s a it’s it’s a broad range of, you know, meeting different people, talking to different people, find out not only our situation with our customers, but obviously, I get to, learn about the other dealers’ customers as well. You know, what may be working with them, what’s not working for them, you know, and you kinda feed back and forth with each other as far as what issues you have. So I would say, you know, be able to do that. I like the traveling. I like going different places, seeing different things. I would say all of that stuff is what what basically makes me love looking at JustTech.
Joshua Justice:
That’s great. And we love we love having you here. So we talked about, some of your duties and responsibilities. What’s that normal day to day look like for you?
Andy Davis:
Oh, it can it can vary so much. It can go from anywhere to, doing remote, with clients all day. It could go to I’ll have to go out and, take care of service issues with Xerox machines, on the the west side of the state, Western Virginia. It may come to a situation like we had, last week where somebody may be sick, and I go up to Maryland alright. To stay the night, and and do new installs. So it could kinda vary. It it’s I don’t know if there’s a typical day. You just kinda take it as it comes. The minute you think it’s typical, it’s not gonna be typical. So you just kinda take it as it comes.
Joshua Justice:
Yeah. And we we thank you. One of your greatest attributes is that you’re flexible. You’re, flexible for whatever comes at you that day, and whoever from Just Tech or another partner has reached out to you or a client, and just kinda prioritize, you know, what’s needed. If a prospect asked you, Andy, we’re considering working with Just Tech, you know, what would you tell them? Why should they consider it?
Andy Davis:
I would say that with JustTech, we we have our our Managed Network Services. We have our Xerox printers and copiers. We have our apps. So whatever you’re looking for in a business, whether it’s to, help you print, whether it’s to you just don’t wanna deal with the computer aspect of it, the server managing, any of that, or you need an app to help you do it better, you can do it all in one place with just it. That’s great. Yeah.
Joshua Justice:
And something we didn’t mention is that you also help the Managed Network Services team and that you have some IT background as well. You touch just about every aspect of JustTech, and you do a great job. When you’re not an all star at Jus Tech, what do you do for fun?
Andy Davis:
Well, I’m into a lot into NASCAR racing. So whether it’s the local, the regional, the national series, you know, I’ll either go to it or I’ll be watching it on TV. I used to go out to Martinsville, Virginia and camp out, twice a week. I mean, twice a year there, for the big races. So, you know, I tend to do that. Other times, I tend to during the hot months in the summer, I like to go to the lake and, you know, just kinda relax a little bit. Hey. I like going to the beach when I can. I like the atmosphere of the beach. I don’t like the hot weather or the the dirt. It’s, like I always told, my mom, she said, why don’t you come out here on the beach? I said, it’s too dirty. So, I do like the atmosphere, though.
Joshua Justice:
Oh, nice to know. What is your go to beach? Would that be Virginia Beach or North Carolina beaches?
Andy Davis:
It would be probably Myrtle Myrtle Beach or South Carolina.
Joshua Justice:
Yep. Yep. Yeah. That’s Virginia. When we growing up, we went to Myrtle Beach.
Andy Davis:
Loved it. Yep. And, actually, you know, a few times I’ve been to, Daytona Beach in Florida. So that’s that’s really nice, but, of course, that’s gonna be about double the drive for me to Myrtle. That’s not something you can do anytime. But it’s it’s it’s nice. But but living in the location I’m at, you know, I’m lucky to be able to get to, you know, either one within a a good time limit.
Joshua Justice:
Yeah. So for, anyone watching, any clients who are going to open up offices outside their area, Andy likes to travel to do installs in person. And if it’s near a beach, he’s there. He he will take care of your installation.
Andy Davis:
That’s right. That’s right. I I actually think I was near the, the water, Friday when I was over in towards Lexington Park. I don’t know how close it was, but I think it was close by.
Joshua Justice:
You were. You were near the, the Chesapeake Bay in the Potomac. The peak of that is Pine Point, Maryland. So, yeah, you were close, to there. Yep.
Andy Davis:
I was gonna say you can kinda tell by the the you’re in a beach, close to a beach town, just kinda by the the look of it. You know, they start touting seafood a lot. Yeah. Right. Yeah.
Joshua Justice:
Yeah. That’s a good point. It’s a beautiful area. Andy, thanks for everything you do for us at Just Tech. Thanks for taking a few minutes with us.
