On June 3rd, JustTech supported the Shawnee District of the Shenandoah Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America’s annual Distinguished Citizen Award dinner.
This year’s Distinguished Citizen Award Honoree for Winchester/Frederick County was Mark Merrill. Mark is the former CEO and President of Valley Health and former Chairman of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association (VHHA). Over the years, he has demonstrated the same values found in Scouting; character, citizenship, and leadership skills. Mark has been a pillar in the Winchester Frederick County community.
The Shenandoah Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America includes 3 counties in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia (Morgan, Berkeley & Jefferson) and 6 counties in the Northern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia (Frederick, Clarke, Shenandoah, Warren, Rappahannock & Page). The Council headquarters is in Winchester, Virginia and is divided into three (3) service districts (see map below)
The Council staff members providing support to our Charter Partners, Units, Leaders & Scouting families. In addition to our council staff, nearly 1,500 volunteers provide quality Scouting experiences for over 5,000 youth and their families every year. Over 100 local organizations charter use of the Scouting program in over 150 units.
