Getting to Know the People Behind JustTech

Here at JustTech, we think it’s important for our employees to know how much we value their time, talent, and who they are as people. We had the opportunity to talk with Eric Hanssen, Senior Network Analyst at our La Plata, Maryland headquarters. It was wonderful to get to know Eric better and we are excited for you to learn more about him, his career responsibilities, and his background, too!

Hi, Eric! Thanks for chatting with us today. Can you start off by telling us a little about yourself?

I started at JustTech eight years ago in 2012 doing IT support; I’ve always been into computers starting in middle and high school. My grandparents bought us a desktop computer and that got my interest piqued in computers and that’s when my schooling interest was raised. The Student Networking Academy program, a vocational type of program for students wanting to go into the computer industry at my high school allowed me to get my CCNA and CCNP.

It’s great you found a career that is built upon the interests that you had at such a young age! What brought you to JustTech?

At the time, I was in between jobs and Mike Clark was working here so he introduced me to Josh and gave me a recommendation. Then I just started working with Mike doing IT. We actually first met in the program in high school.

Very cool! What are your main responsibilities working here?

The big thing I do since I am one of the senior network analysts is handle some of the bigger fixes for IT and resolve issues. I do this with my co-worker, Dave to help work through these issues. My job is to assist other people when they get stuck and troubleshoot problems. Troubleshooting is interesting because you have to figure out why an issue is happening.

For sure! How do you earn most of your customers?

A lot of our customers that come to us usually start off as Xerox customers, so they already have a relationship with JustTech. Sometimes they may not have technical support for computers or find that a solution isn’t working out quite like they would like it to. For customers who have never had a relationship with JustTech may not have a dedicated IT team so a lot of it is either done internally or by another employee of their company and the burden has taken away a lot of their time or they have an existing support team that wasn’t working out the way they had hoped. We also have consultant customers where the customer has already established IT, but they bring us on for our expertise to work through higher-level issues.

What do you enjoy the most about being a part of the JustTech family?

I would say the atmosphere in the office. Everyone is very friendly and JustTech is very flexible to employee needs.

Thank you! We really appreciate our employees and want them to feel that we do. With that being said, when you’re not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?

My current big hobby is 3D printing – It was born out of a different hobby of electronics. One of the things I built recently was a 3D print Nerf gun. I like to find projects on the Internet and try to recreate them.

That is awesome! If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Healing like Wolverine would be neat because he doesn’t age and can be overpowering since he doesn’t take much damage.

That’s an amazing answer. Most importantly though, who would win a fight between Spider-man and Batman?

I would say Spider-man mainly because he actually has powers. Batman is more technological and depending on which Spider-man you’re looking at because he sometimes works with Iron Man technology, I would say Spider-man would be the winner on that one.

Thanks for talking with us today, Eric! If a customer needs to reach you, what is the best way to get in contact with you?

Email would probably be the best way. Email me at eric@justtech.com.
Thank you for all of your hard work, Eric! It was great to get to know you better today.
