Getting to Know the People Behind JustTech
Here at JustTech, we think it’s important for our employees to know how much we value their time, talent, and who they are as people. We had the opportunity to talk with Sarah McCue, Operations Specialist at our La Plata, Maryland headquarters. It was wonderful to get to know Sarah better and we are excited for you to learn more about her, her career responsibilities, and her background, too!
Hi, Sarah! Thanks for chatting with us today. Can you start off by telling us a little about yourself?
I’m originally from Niagara Falls, New York and have been in the Southern Maryland area for a little over six years and with JustTech for almost four years now. I attended Buffalo State College where I initially majored in journalism but ultimately obtained my bachelor’s in business administration with a concentration in international business.
How exciting! What brought you to JustTech?
Upon moving to the area, I had worked a few jobs including with a government contractor and doing data preparation for a local marketing company, but nothing was really ‘clicking’ for me. I was informed that JustTech was moving to a bigger office location and were looking to add to their team by someone who was a customer of JustTech. I grew up in a family business and really liked the atmosphere and the diversity in tasks that came along with it, so I thought that I could be a good fit and sent Josh my resume right away.
We’re glad you did! What are your main responsibilities working here?
I began as an operations assistant performing main administration tasks such as bill paying, deposits, and managing expenses. After about six months, I began to take on a larger role with the ordering and tracking of Xerox machines and it’s grown from there. I now am an operations specialist and up until this month had been handling the ordering, tracking, and deliveries for all offices. We have recently acquired another office in Fredericksburg which brought some much-needed help, so now I assist four out of the six offices with ordering.
We’re excited about the Fredericksburg addition, too! What would you tell a customer who is considering working with JustTech?
One thing I have always appreciated about JustTech is how customer-oriented we are. Our technical analysts and solutions specialists develop relationships with customers that span years and I think that really says a lot about the type of people who work here.
Absolutely – customers should always be our #1 focus. What do you enjoy the most about being a part of the JustTech family?
When I started working for JustTech (at the time we were Southern Solutions), we had less than 15 employees and I was the only woman working in the office. Now we are up to 63 employees and 20 are women (girl power!), so it has been so exciting to be along for the ride and experience such phenomenal growth and success. I love that even though we’ve grown so much, it still feels small.
We love that. When you’re not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I’ve challenged myself this year to read one book a month, so I have been somewhat diligently chipping away at that goal in my free time. I also enjoy going to the gym and then off-setting that by trying out lots of new restaurants and foods. It’s all about balance!
It sounds like you stay busy! If you could travel back in time, what era would you choose and why?
This is a tough one! I am not interested in being chased by dinosaurs or anything like that so my answer will be pretty tame – either the decades of the 70s, 80s or 90s. Interior design is an interest of mine and I love the décor from each, so I would like to live through that as an adult (plus, the fashion!).
Great answer! Most importantly though, what is on your Netflix watchlist right now?
I recently saw Parasite in theaters which has spurred me on to check out other South Korean movies. I just watched Snowpiercer and next on my list will be Oldboy. I also love The Great British Bake Off, even though I am neither British nor a baker.
