We’re starting 2021 off by talking to Gena Greer of Pro Re Nata Brewery in Crozet, Virginia. Gena is the General Manager at Pro Re Nata Brewery and has graciously agreed to talk to us today!

Hi, Gena! Thank you so much for talking to us today. We’re so excited to have you here! To start off, please tell us about your company.

John Schoeb, longtime Crozet resident and local dentist, was searching for a place to relax and to spend time with friends and family, all while enjoying a cold beer with a view.

He teamed up with longtime friend and fraternity brother, Andrew Messina, and together they purchased the former Crozet Moose Lodge and opened Pro Re Nata Brewing Co. in 2015. Situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Crozet, VA, Pro Re Nata found what it needed: the perfect spot.

In 2015 Pro Re Nata opened with a farm brewery license; and in late 2019, expanded to obtain a farm winery license as well. Today we serve a full selection of beer, hard cider and wine.

What an amazing story! Can you tell us about your role and responsibilities at Pro Re Nata Brewery?

I assumed the role of General Manager in June 2020. My husband Michael and I became partners in Pro Re Nata in January 2019.  As the GM, I work daily to adapt to the ever-changing environmental challenges brought on by COVID and running a small business. I try to manage the financial health of the business, I coordinate both private and public events (like our holiday market and Valentine’s Day dinner), and I always contemplate how to grow our business. Current plans include expansion of our outdoor seating areas and hiring additional staff (TODAY!) for all positions – servers, shift managers, maintenance staff, and bartenders.

It sounds like you definitely keep busy! When did you first reach out to Just·Tech for assistance? What brought you to us?

Janet Chisholm, Regional Manager for Just·Tech called our location with a free offering for Be Smart, Stand Apart floor decals for social distancing.  When Janet dropped off the decals, she shared more about Just·Tech and the full complement of services available.

We were having issues with our WIFI and internet and had a very disorganized technology closet with an assortment of equipment and lots of unknown wires. Janet scheduled time to come back to complete a brief questionnaire/assessment of our challenges. Within several weeks and after an on-site walk thru, a solution was recommended.

Amazing! What has your experience been working with Just·Tech?

The experience has been GREAT. I appreciate that Just·Tech employees made an effort to understand our needs, not oversell us, and created a solution that was exactly what we needed; especially as a small business.

I especially like that I have a small group of support contacts at Just·Tech. The support team conversed with our FIBER provider to ensure a smooth transition.

Thank you so much for the kind words – we love what we do! If someone were looking for similar services that we provided to you for their business, what would you say to them? Would you recommend us?

I would recommend Just·Tech. I would say, throw everything at Just·Tech and see what solutions they can offer your business. You would be surprised that they can create a whole solution at your price point. And I love that there is a local office!

Is there anything that you would like to add that we may have not asked you?

I think it’s important to share what Just·Tech did for us to help understand the breadth of services they provide.  Because we upgraded to FIBER internet and streamlined our WIFI network, we have been able to expand services to a wide array of customers.  Not only can our day-to-day customers come in and search up the best Super Bowl commercials, but local businesses can reserve space to hold meetings that include live streaming capabilities through our secure, reliable network.

We expanded the network to accommodate 300 users on WIFI to support and enhance the customer experience. The network upgrade has permitted day-to-day operations to improve our Point-of-Sale accuracy and uptime, enabled our food truck to have a more robust network when using their point-of-sale system, and allowed us to implement an online ordering system for food.  Additionally, a local church, Holy Cross of Crozet has found a home for their congregation for the next few years while they work to build a permanent home. Due to COVID and because of the upgrade, they have been offering live streaming to families who may not be able to come to services in person.

The upgrade of our network by Just·Tech has provided peace of mind. Because of the network dependability that exists now that didn’t before, operational challenges with technology are no longer an issue.

To hire someone is expensive, but to hire Just·Tech as our Network Services Manager was very affordable for our small business.
